Charles de Vaulx
Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager

Charles de Vaulx joined International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) in May 2008 as a partner and portfolio manager, and serves as chief investment officer and portfolio manager.

Until March 2007, Charles was portfolio manager of the First Eagle Global, Overseas, U.S. Value, Gold and Variable Funds, together with a number of separately managed institutional accounts. He was solely responsible for management of the Sofire Fund Ltd. when it won an Absolute Return Award* for “Fund of the Year” in the global equity category in 2005 and 2006.

In addition to sharing Morningstar's "International Stock Manager of the Year" Award** in 2001 with his co-manager, Charles was runner-up for the same award in 2006.

From 2000 to 2004, Charles was co-portfolio manager of the First Eagle Funds. He was named associate portfolio manager in August 1996. In 1987, he joined the SoGen Funds, the predecessor to the First Eagle Funds, as a securities analyst. He began his career at Societe Generale Bank as a credit analyst in 1985.

Charles graduated from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Rouen in France and holds the French equivalent of a Master's degree in finance.

Michael W. Malafronte
Managing Partner

Michael W. Malafronte is a founding partner of International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) and serves as managing partner. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of IVA, including company strategy and managing resources.

Michael was most recently a senior vice president at Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers, LLC where he worked for two years as a senior analyst for the First Eagle Funds as well as a variety of separate accounts and offshore funds advised by the firm.

Prior to that, he worked for nine years as a portfolio manager at Oppenheimer & Close, a dually-registered broker dealer and investment adviser. He has served on the board of two publicly traded companies.

Michael earned a B.S. in finance and investments from Babson College.

Tara Hannigan joined International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) in September 2008 as director of mutual fund distribution.

Prior to joining IVA, Tara was a vice president at Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder, LLC serving as the director of national accounts for the First Eagle Funds since 2003. In this role she was responsible for fostering and developing relationships with the various partner firms across all distribution channels. Prior to that, she was responsible for marketing efforts of the funds. Tara also worked for State Street Global Advisors focusing on marketing for the SSgA Funds.

Tara earned a B.A. in history and political science from the College of the Holy Cross.

Nadia Paselsky
Director of Institutional Sales

Nadia Paselsky joined International Value Advisers, LLC (IVA) in March 2008 in an institutional sales and marketing role. Her responsibilities include marketing and sales of IVA products both domestically and abroad.

Prior to joining IVA, Nadia was a vice president at Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers, LLC (ASB). From 2004 to 2008, she was part of the U.S. event-driven portfolio team (a long/short hedge fund), responsible for marketing and investor relations.  Prior to that, Nadia was head of the performance analytics and client service group at ASB. She joined ASB in 1997 as an offshore fund accountant.

Nadia earned a B.S. in accounting and a M.B.A. from The Ohio State University. She passed Level II of the CFA exam.
